2020 Fall Sports Schedule

As we near the startup of school this fall, please continue to check our website and live feeds for updates or changes to the safe start plan. Tonight, I would like to announce a change in the requirements of our current plan. The decision has been made to require a face mask for all students in grades 5-12. Also, the request for participating in the online option has been extended to Wednesday August 5, 2020 at the end of the day. Have a great evening, Go Green!

Please read the memo released from HLSD Superintendent Pete Ruby regarding the Prom being held this Sunday. It is our understanding the event will still be held by the parents.

Middle School cheerleading sign ups for grades 7 and 8 are tonight and Thursday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Open gym tomorrow (Monday July 13) for 7th and 8th grade boys from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon.

Good evening, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and staying safe during this time. I wanted to take a minute and update our community on a few items concerning the restart of school this fall. First, we will be returning to school with a few calendar changes. Teachers will come back Tuesday August 18 and students will begin coming back Monday August 24th on a staggered start. Kindergarten and all even grade levels will begin in session on the 24th and all odd grade levels will begin on the 25th and then all grades will be in regular session on Wednesday August 26th according to original school calendar. Our administration and staff are in the process of finalizing a safe start plan with details and protocols for the district and each building. The district will communicate our working plan at the end of next week. Please know that we are doing our very best to make sure all details and protocols will take into consideration individuals and the organization as a whole. Also, let me emphasize, our plan will be a working plan and will most likely have changes as the needs arise. We understand the fast-changing conditions that COVID 19 has created for all of us, but do realize everyone must be willing to adapt throughout the school year. Thank you for your patience and look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Attention 2020-2021 boys 7th and 8th graders open gym for basketball begins tonight at 7:00 pm in the middle school gym. Open gym will be every Monday and Wednesday 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

The High School Athletic Department wants to remind the parents and athletes that the health and safety of kids and adults is our number one priority during the voluntary workouts taking place this summer. We are awaiting further direction from the OHSAA on plans for the 2020-2021 athletic year. Once we have their guidance then we will begin to hold mandatory workouts moving toward practices. Keep working hard, TWP.

Adena Sports Medicine will NOT be offering free sports physicals this year. Dr. Christopher Good is ready to receive Huntsmen for physicals or you can schedule with your family doctor. Make sure to use the 2020 pre-participation physical form attached here: https://5il.co/d1mu

The entire school building will be closed because electric will be shut off for the day on Thursday, June 25. Prom tickets will not be sold during normal hours. Instead, tickets will be sold at the athletic complex from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursday. Tickets will be sold on Friday during normal hours, 9:00 am-2:00 pm.

It is highly recommended all visitors wear a mask when entering the school building. Tickets are $40 per person which covers the price of the meal and entry to the dance. Huntington Local Schools Staff and Administration are looking forward to welcoming students back to school in the Fall. Our students, staff, and families have done an amazing job with remote teaching and learning. We are working on plans for re-opening school buildings in the 2020-21 school year and are exploring options based on guidance from our local and state officials. To best plan, we would like to gather your input. Please complete this survey to help us understand what is most important to your family for when we return to school in the fall.
