Cheryl Gibson

English Language Arts

My name is Cheryl Gibson, and I have the joy of teaching 6th-grade English Language Arts here at Huntington. This year marks my 31st year in education, and I still feel as excited as I did my very first year. I’m a proud graduate of both Huntington and Ohio University, and I’m passionate about helping students discover the joy of reading, writing, and exploring literature.

Outside of school, I live a very lively life—I care for over 100 chickens, 40 ducks, and 3 dogs! My classroom might be full of books, but my homelife is full of feathers and wagging tails.

If you ever need to reach me, the best way is by email at cheryl.gibson@huntsmen.org. I’m truly looking forward to an amazing year of learning and growing with our 6th graders!

Brandon Turley

English Language Arts

Hello, my name is Brandon Turley, and I am proud to teach 6th Grade English Language Arts here at Huntington Middle School. This is my second year with Huntington and my third year in education. I am a graduate of Ohio University and am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is helping students develop strong skills in argumentative writing and evaluating evidence—skills that not only support academic success but also prepare them for real-world thinking and communication.

Before beginning my career in education, I served in the United States Army, an experience that strengthened my commitment to hard work, perseverance, and teamwork—values I bring into my classroom each day.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and running. If you ever have questions, concerns, or ideas, please feel free to reach out to me at Brandon.Turley@Huntsmen.org.

I am truly excited to begin this school year and feel honored to be a part of the Huntington Local School District community.

Hello! My name is Jeremiah Oates, and I am excited to begin my second year at Huntington Middle School and my third year overall as a math teacher. I graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Childhood Education, specializing in Math and Science.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is Math Game Time on Fridays—a fun and engaging way to connect with students while reinforcing math skills through board and card games. I always enjoy learning new games and playing alongside my students.

Randy Hauswirth

Science

My name is Randy Hauswirth, and I’m excited to be your 6th-grade science teacher this year. I’ve spent 25 years in education—teaching in both middle and elementary schools—and for the past decade, I’ve focused on helping 6th graders explore the amazing world of science. I hold my undergraduate degree from Ohio University and a master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. Science is all about curiosity and discovery, which is why I love bringing learning to life through hands-on labs and activities.

When I’m not in the classroom, you can usually find me cheering on my kids at their activities or working on our family farm. If you ever need to reach me, feel free to email me at Randy.Hauswirth@Huntsmen.org. I’m looking forward to an exciting year of learning, exploring, and discovering together!
